The Crane & Turtle

While I am unsure how long this shop in Togoshi Ginza  had been open for, yesterday was its last day. It was a small discount neighborhood grocery store. It typically carried a mishmash of deeply discount food and alcohol that was close on date. It was nothing spectacular, but among is over crowed isles a deal was always waiting to be found.

Calling Summer

While I have not lived in Tokyo for that long. For the first time ever, on Saturday snow stuck to the roads. With no plows it quickly added up into a frozen slushy mess. Surprisingly for a place that never has snow, nearly everyone somehow had chains in their tires.

Then in the early hours of Tuesday morning a mild earthquake shook me awake.

Two decent natural disasters in a week and of the 11 people that died, most were elderly people who slipped and fell on the ice.

There is a reason I live in Toyropolis.

What happens to a dream deferred?
      Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
      Or fester like a sore—
      And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
      Or crust and sugar over—
      like a syrupy sweet?
      Maybe it just sags
      like a heavy load.
      Or does it explode?

5 Tries

On a macro level each of these 6 pictures came out well enough. However a combination of foggy 40th floor windows and a camera phone lens made them lack a finer micro quality. While none of these pictures are up to my standard, the snow yesterday and near freezing evening air made for some beautiful lighting that had to be shared.
